I was reading a scientific cultural Italian magazine called Focus on the balcony, when this incredibly interesting article struck me.
Irina Werning is an Argentine Photographer and had the magnificent idea of taking photographs from the past, say, thirty, fourty or even fifty years ago, and ask the model of the photograph to recreate the same photo again, using the same setting, the same background, identical clothes and most of all trying to express exactly what the original photo conveyed. To do so, the model has to have the same facial expression and, in my opinion, the results are amazing.
This project is called “Back to the Future” and I invite you to look at all the photographs here. It is incredible how people change during the years, but somehow manage to retain many characteristic traits.
